Taking it on!

Well what a ride! For the past six weeks I have been taking on Tasar training, getting the 470 up to speed and of course the Sailing Chix with Nix radio show! About to go on air actually!
My weekends have been radio show, then Tasar/470 double sessions on both days – so if I haven’t been in touch, you are more likely to catch me at Woollahra, or via social media! 🙂
Through the Sailing Chix we have interviewed an amazing amount of fantastic people involved with the sport of sailing. We have been to the Yachting Australia awards, interviewed people live from on the water, and talked about everything from the Oracle crash, to weather and of course the successes of the Australian Sailing Team! For more information on the show, including catching up on our past shows, or information on how to tune in see www.sailingchix.org. It was great to chat to Matt Owen last week and welcome Nathanual Chase Davidson, the youngest member of YA and the CYC to the world!
Back to sailing, the 470 learning curve continues to be steep and swift thanks to the amount of people who have been helping AUS18 along the way! Karyn Gojnich has been out to watch, along with Simon Reffold. I have also been lucky enough to train with Lauren Sinclair up front for me while Sophie is finishing off exams. Lauren spent three years on the circuit training towards London for the USA Sailing Team. Loving getting out on the water as often as I am – feeling much more like myself. While this week I was held back by the storms who just wanted to taunt me – I have still learned something new every day in terms of theory! Monday’s session was also a great laugh!
As always I have been loving my Tasar sailing – though it has been taking a back seat to the 470 – Dad has been helping out a lot with the 470 set up. Will get to race the Tasar today up at the Belmont Bethwaite regatta! Looking forward to a burn, and can’t wait for the Nationals over Christmas with the whole Dougli crew 🙂
Had to pass up another go on the Melges 32 this weekend up the back… going to be insane today! Going to be a huuuuuge summer and I have much more frequent updates on Adventures of a Sailor Girl on Facebook!
Until next time, I will continue to be taking it on! Sail Melbourne and Sail Sydney are just around the corner. Looking forward to learning as much as possible to keep taking on the learning curve! Make sure you tune in to Sailing Chix with Nix!
