Dad and I were training off Ulladulla Harbour today when a whale breached right next to us (within 20 metres) just out of the heads.
We trimmed to avoid, and I grabbed the camera to get the second big tail slap! Very raw footage (and language, apologies to those who may be offended but it was amazing!).
We saw three mums and bubs, and got in an awesome training session as well in a building nor’easter!
You have to love Rob Douglass (Dad) aka Ray aka “Boss Sailor”. “I’ve got weed” and “let your jib halyard off” instructions were still to be had with whales playing all around us.
